Printing Processes
Digital, letterpress and foil…oh my! There are so many options when it comes to stationery printing that it can be overwhelming and confusing. Don’t worry – I can help! Here’s a look at a few of the most popular printing processes used on wedding invitations.
Digital Printing
This is your most affordable option when it comes to wedding invitations. It’s great for invitations that contain graphical elements like floral or greenery. Digital printing can be done on any number of papers and the printing can be done in any color your heart desires.
Foil Printing
Adding a touch of foil to your invitations creates such an elegant and upscale vibe. Foil is available in any number of colors, with gold and silver being the two most popular choices lately. Foiling is usually combined with digital printing and it can be done on a variety of papers. Foiling can get expensive as they have to create a die for the foiled section, so it can be a bit of a splurge (though worth it, I think!).
Letterpress Printing
Letterpress is perfect for a romantic and timeless look. It can also be great for a modern invitation suite. Letterpress is done by creating a die and pressing it into the paper, leaving an indentation with the design. That indentation can be left blank (blind embossed) or filled with a color or foil depending on the look you’re trying to achieve. Letterpress is typically done on a cotton stock and can also be a great splurge item to elevate your wedding invitations.
